about

Written By Kate O'Callaghan

"Taking stock of how we see ourselves and how we are viewed by others, I questioned the idea that as we age we often become more critical (of ourselves and others) a form of self obsession which can appear shallow, so maybe shallowness . . .lies in the eye of the beholder. But maybe there's reassurance also in the mere fact that this is part of the human condition and something to be embraced . . . . . ."

lyrics

This is what we do when we age
We exercise and de-rage
Neuroticise over size
Over condemn those that lie

Shallowness lies in the beholder (x2)

This is the time to lie
This is the time to cry
Why do I feel so compelled to fight?
Why do I feel so compelled to bite?

Shallowness lies in the beholder (x2)

We rob the hours at night
Bewitching hours of love and fright
Not wanting to let go, see the light

And start all over again
